Court upholds decision to close two Nova Scotia schools: lawyer

PORT HAWKESBURY, N.S. - A Nova Scotia Supreme Court judge has upheld the Strait Regional School Board's decision to close two local schools.

The board voted last year to close Reverend H.J. MacDonald School in Heatherton and the West Richmond Education Centre in Evanston.

However, parents and residents from both communities filed for a judicial review of the decision.

The case was heard in a Port Hawkesbury courtroom in August.

Lawyer Chris Boyd says Judge Patrick Murray dismissed the community bids to reverse the closures.

He says his clients have yet to decide whether to appeal the decision.
