Woman attacked on Courtenay trail after telling dirt-bike rider to slow down

Comox Valley RCMP are looking for a man with blue eye and blond hair. He is about five feet seven inches tall with a medium build.

Comox Valley RCMP are looking for a dirt-bike rider who attacked a woman after she told him to slow down.

The woman and her daughter were walking on the Rotary Trail in Courtenay about 2 p.m. Sunday when she yelled at a man on a dirt bike to slow down, said Const. Monika Terragni, spokeswoman for Comox Valley RCMP.

Police said the man drove into the woman, hit her leg, punched and kicked her and then threw her phone. The woman went home and called police.

The man is described as white with blond hair and blue eyes, and about five-foot-seven with a medium build. He was wearing a white and black helmet with a black hoodie and was riding a red and black Honda dirt bike.

Terragni said a man was with the attacker and police are hoping he or other witnesses will come forward.

Police ask anyone with information to call Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321 quoting file No. 2018-7385. Anonymous reports can be made by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
