A 44-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a stabbing at a Nanaimo motel.

Several witnesses called 911 about 2 p.m. Wednesday after hearing a fight between a man and a woman in a motel room.

Police arrived and found a 55-year-old man bleeding from a stab wound to his upper body, said Nanaimo RCMP spokesman Const. Gary O’Brien. He was treated by B.C. Ambulance paramedics and taken to hospital. He has since been released.

The woman, who fled the motel before police arrived, was arrested about 5 p.m.

Mounties in Oceanside and Port Alberni also dealt with stabbings on Tuesday.

Oceanside RCMP said a 31-year-old woman driving a vehicle and her 22-year-old male passenger got into an argument, and the passenger reportedly pulled a knife.

The woman was stabbed once while in the vehicle, police said. She left, but was chased and stabbed again.

Several people called 911 about the incident, which took place about 6:15 a.m.

A man was arrested at 6:40 a.m. in his residence in Bowser. Police said Thursday that charges of aggravated assault have been approved against the man, who remains in custody.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Port Alberni police were called about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday and found a 45-year-old man lying on the ground in the 5100 block of Gertrude Street with a non-life-threatening stab wound to his chest.

A 32-year-old woman known to the man was arrested about 8:40 p.m.

Police said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Carroll of the Port Alberni RCMP at 250-723-2424 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
