A 69-year-old woman was left shaken Monday after a masked man held a gun to her head and stole a handful of cash she had withdrawn from a bank machine near the Hillside mall.

Victoria police are looking for the suspect, who they say walked into the vestibule of the Vancity bank branch on Scott Street about 1:40 p.m. and demanded all the victim’s money.

She refused and the man threatened to kill her.

“At that point, he took the wallet from her hand and then the cash that had come out of the bank machine,” Const. Brett Stewart said.

Video surveillance captured the incident and shows the man running off.

He is described as having a medium build and standing about five-foot-nine. He was wearing a blue, zippered hoodie and blue jeans.

He was also wearing gloves and a translucent mask to distort his appearance.

The victim did not suffer any physical injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 250-995-7654.
