Highway 14 was closed for hours when a logging truck overturned in Shirley. Improvements have been proposed for the road between Langford and Port Renfrew.

The public is being asked to weigh in on the proposed improvements for the Highway 14 corridor between Langford and Port Renfrew.

The drop-in style open house on June 19 will allow members of the public to ask questions and give feedback to staff from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

The $10 million safety upgrades include transit pullouts, a new two-lane bridge on Gillespie Road at Roche Cove, a queue jump lane at Jacklin Road, safety signs, upgrades to the Sooke River Road intersection, improvements to Otter Point Road and the Sombrio rest area, and a slow-moving vehicle pullout at Muir Creek.

Information will also be posted online at www.gov.bc.ca/highway14 for those unable to attend in person. Input can be provided online via the website, or by emailing highway14@gov.bc.ca.

The open house takes place June 19 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Edward Milne Community School, 6218 Sooke Rd., in the upper commons area.
