The actions of West Shore RCMP officers are being investigated after two occupants of a vehicle were injured in a rollover, the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. said in a statement.

On Sunday, about 12:50 a.m., B.C. Emergency Health Services called West Shore RCMP for help at a location that the IIO did not specify. As officers arrived, a vehicle left the area. The officers tried to stop the vehicle, but it did not stop.

The vehicle was later found to have rolled over, injuring two occupants.

IIO officials were notified, which is standard procedure with incidents where an injury or death involves police.

“The initial focus of the IIO investigation will be to determine if there is a connection between the injuries of the affected persons and actions of police,” the IIO statement said.
