A tip from a citizen Monday helped West Shore RCMP apprehend 28-year-old Aaron Edward Craig, a convicted sex offender wanted for breaching his bail conditions.
The citizen spotted Craig, whose image was publicized in the media, about 10:40 a.m. on a trail near Wishart Road in Colwood.
Police were called immediately, and West Shore officers and a Victoria police dog team located Craig in a parking lot at Sooke and Ledsham roads.
Victoria police issued a public notification about Craig on Jan. 15, saying they believed he posed a significant risk of harm to girls between 11 and 17.
Craig is awaiting trial on 15 charges that include obtaining or communicating for sexual services of someone under 18 and telecommunication to lure a child under 16.
Police said he has used such social-media platforms as Facebook and Nexopia to lure victims.
