Victoria woman among victims in Alberta highway crash

A Victoria woman in her early 30s was one of two people killed Wednesday in a highway crash in Alberta. She was a front-seat passenger in an SUV that was hit by a semi-trailer truck at the intersection of Highway 881 and Highway 45 about 1:30 p.m.

The RCMP reported that the crash occurred near the village of Myrnam, about 180 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.

A Victoria woman in her early 30s was one of two people killed Wednesday in a highway crash in Alberta.

She was a front-seat passenger in an SUV that was hit by a semi-trailer truck at the intersection of Highway 881 and Highway 45 about 1:30 p.m. near the village of Myrnam, about 180 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.

The 37-year-old Niagara Falls, Ont., woman who was driving was also killed. Two Niagara Falls boys, ages 12 and eight, were sitting in the back and were taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening.

The investigation by Two Hills RCMP is continuing, said Cpl. Michael Magee.

No names have been released pending notification of next of kin.
