Five months after it opened, Yuk Yuk’s comedy club in Victoria has shut its doors.

The club, part of the Toronto-based Yuk Yuk’s chain, underwent $150,000 worth of renovations before opening on June 3.

The first Yuk Yuk’s franchise in Victoria since 1987 was situated upstairs at 751 View St., site of former nightspots Déjà Vous, the Drawing Room and Red Jacket Lounge. The last night of operation at Yuk Yuk’s was Saturday.

Dave Wilcox and Yona Depue, who partnered with the national comedy club chain to open the Victoria branch, could not be reached for comment Tuesday. The Victoria couple signed a five-year lease on March 1.
