The driver of a van weaving all over the road ended up with egg on his face after receiving a ticket for driving without due consideration.
Her had all the signs of being drunk, Victoria police said: weaving all over the road and almost hitting the curb and cars in the oncoming lane, prompting other motorists to call 911.
The van was first spotted driving near Craigflower and Tillicum roads. Victoria police officers caught up with the vehicle on Tyee Road.
The driver didn’t have alcohol on his breath, but he did have lunch on his lap.
Dining and driving earned him a ticket for driving without due consideration — an offence that carries a fine of $196.
“Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of serious collisions on our roads,” Sgt. Glenn Vermette said. “The witnesses did all road users a great favour in calling our attention to this driver.” — Times Colonist
