Victoria police are looking for witnesses to a stabbing that left one man with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers were called to the 1100 block of Wharf Street just after midnight Sunday after reports that a man had been stabbed in the side, said Victoria police spokesman Const. Mike Russell.

Staff at Darcy’s Pub were alerted and administered first aid, applying bandages and dressing until police arrived.

The injured 32-year-old man was taken to hospital by B.C. Ambulance paramedics.

During the investigation, detectives learned that the victim had talked to two women on the corner of Wharf and Fort streets after he was stabbed.

Apparently, the women pointed out that he was bleeding from his side, which is when the man realized he had been stabbed, Russell said.

The women were described as South Asian, in their 20s and wearing dresses.

“Detectives would like to speak to these women in hopes that they may shed more light on what occurred,” Russell said.

Police do not know what led to the attack or whether the man knew his attackers. He is co-operating with investigators.

Victoria police ask anyone with information to call them at 250-995-7654. Anonymous reports can be made by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
