The woman was walking down Rendall Street about 10:30 p.m. when a stranger randomly hit her over the head and then fled. Several witnesses called police and helped the woman, who was bleeding.

Officers and a canine team were unable to find the man. Investigators questioned witnesses and collected evidence.

"This investigation is a priority for us. The random nature of this attack concerns us and we are determined to find the person responsible," said Det. Shawn Robson. "We need the community to help us identify this person so we can solve this investigation."

The man is described as white, between 19 and 24 and approximately six feet tall. He had a slim build, was clean-shaven, and had prominent cheekbones.

At the time of the attack he was wearing baggy, light-coloured shorts, a baggy white shirt, and a white bicycle helmet.
