Victoria police have issued a public warning about a parolee they say is at risk of causing “significant harm” to adult and teenage females.

Michael Carpenter, 40, served an eight-year sentence for three convictions of sexual assault with a weapon, unlawful confinement and uttering threats. He is now on parole in the Victoria area.

Carpenter has an extensive prison record for other sexually related offences, as well as a history of targeting women and female youth who were strangers to him.

He must obey a number of conditions while on parole, including avoiding alcohol, reporting any interactions with females to his parole officer, staying in Victoria and not travelling north of the Malahat, staying away from areas where children might gather, and not using or possessing computers.

Anyone who sees Carpenter violating one of his parole conditions is asked to call a local police department right away. Do not approach him.

People with any other information about Carpenter can contact Victoria police Det. Shawn Robson at [email protected].
