Victoria police have arrested a Burnaby man for child sex offences after a four-month long online sting investigation.

Det. Const. Mark MacPhail, Victoria police’s internet child exploitation investigator, began investigating a man in December 2016. The investigator, who went undercover, determined the man wanted to come to Victoria to sexually abuse a child.

The man was arrested at Swartz Bay ferry terminal on March 3 and a search was carried out at his Burnaby home by the Burnaby RCMP.

Alyx Lusignan, 29, has been charged with one count of making child pornography and one count of agreement or arrangement to commit a sexual offence against a child.

His next scheduled court appearance is on March 20.
