Another senior member of Victoria’s management team has left the city’s employ.

Rob Woodland, director of legislative services, left “by mutual agreement,” Mayor Lisa Helps said.

Woodland, who made $182,958 in 2014, was with the city for 26 years.

City manager Jason Johnson announced Woodland’s departure as a “leadership change” in an email to staff dated Oct. 6.

“We are appreciative of Rob’s 26 years of service, during which time he held progressive leadership positions, and served in the statutory roles as the corporate officer and as chief election officer for eight City of Victoria elections,” the email says.

“We will begin recruiting for the manager of bylaw services today, and will provide an update on the corporate officer in the coming days.”

Several members of Victoria’s senior staff left shortly after Johnson was hired in early 2014, including director of human resources Trina Harrison, director of finance Brenda Warner and director of parks Kate Friars.

In other recent changes to senior management at the city, Fraser Work, a senior engineering consultant to the Department of Defence, has been hired as director of engineering, filling a position left vacant when Dwayne Kalynchuk retired in the spring. He begins work Oct. 21.

Highlands chief administrator Chris Coates takes the position of Victoria city clerk beginning Nov. 7.
