Two Victoria police officers are recovering from injuries suffered over the weekend after they responded to a report of a disturbance at a multi-unit building on Pandora Avenue.

Police were called about 5 p.m. Sunday to a building on Pandora between Blanshard and Douglas streets. The report said a man had kicked in the door of someone’s suite before entering another suite.

A man was found on a different floor in a suite belonging to a woman, police said, and officers began to try to negotiate to get him to leave.

The man ran at the officers, who took him to the ground. Police said he continued to resist before eventually being arrested.

At the same time, the woman tried to prevent the arrest and wound up in custody herself.

Small quantities of heroin, methamphetamine and other drugs were found.

Both officers were treated in hospital for unspecified injuries.

Police are recommending charges obstructing police officers, uttering threats and drug possession.
