Comox Valley RCMP say two men have been arrested in connection with a home invasion last weekend.

Two men have been arrested in connection with a targeted home invasion in the Comox area, RCMP say.

Police said two people armed with firearms broke into a home on Sunday, forcibly confined the residents and then robbed and extorted them.

By Tuesday, investigators and the department’s drug section had executed two search warrants and arrested the men, said Comox Valley RCMP spokesman Const. Rob Gardner.

Ahmed Najih Younis, a 19-year-old Comox resident, and Eian Gravell, a 23-year-old Courtenay resident, have been charged with break-and-enter with intent, forcible confinement, robbery, robbery with a firearm, assault, uttering threats and extortion.

Younis has also been charged with trafficking cocaine.

Both men appeared in court on Thursday. They are being held in custody and are scheduled to appear in court again next week.

Cpl. Jill Swan, head of the Comox Valley RCMP drug section, said “good old-fashioned police work” and the use of modern technology contributed to the arrest.
