Warning signs have been posted at the University of Victoria following two cougar sightings in two days this week.
Tom Downie, director of campus security, said in a telephone interview the latest sighting was about 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The earlier one was at about 1 a.m. on Monday when a janitor was getting off work.
Both sightings were in the wooded area along Gordon Head Road near Cedar Hill Cross Road, an area known as Finnerty Woods.
Downie said signs warning of the cougar have been posted near the entrance to various trails through the woods. Saanich police have also been notified.
Both reports described said Downie.
