Two men have been charged and $50,000 worth of stolen goods recovered.

The investigation began Sunday after a break-in at a home in the 1600 block of Knight Avenue, off Shelbourne Street, said Saanich police Staff Sgt. Scott Treble. A substantial amount of property was stolen, including computers, jewelry and cash.

An outside surveillance camera captured high-quality images of two men outside the home.

The next morning, Victoria police and parole officers looking at the images recognized one of the men. He was arrested by Saanich police later that day.

Saanich detectives searched the man’s home in the 500 block of Johnson Street on Tuesday. They found stolen goods linked to several break-and-enters.

The Regional Crime Unit arrested a second man after he left his home in the 1600 block of Cook Street on Wednesday. He was also in possession of stolen property and more stolen goods were found when police searched his home, Treble said.

Police said cash, jewelry and computer equipment totalling $50,000 have been recovered.

“These goods are being inventoried by police and returned to their owners,” Treble said.

Blaine Kevin Isherwood, 20, and Eric Sheldon Hambleton, 25, appeared in Victoria provincial court on Thursday, charged with break-and-enter, theft and theft over $5,000.
