Three people went to hospital with burns during an event at a James Bay church on Friday night.
The incident occurred at the interdenominational Church of Truth at 8:45 p.m., the Victoria fire department said.
The space, at 111 Superior St., was rented out for a private event.
“A dry-chemical extinguisher was used before we got there by the people at the church,” said battalion chief Gary Birtwistle. “We assisted B.C. Ambulance with dressings and medical attention.”
