Police had to use a spike belt to end a chase, after a boat and trailer were stolen from a Sooke home and taken on a wild ride.

A Sooke woman is shaken up after a group of men blocked her vehicle and tried to open her car door late Wednesday night.

The woman said she was on Robinson Road about midnight when a grey or silver four-door sedan stopped and blocked her path.

Two men got out of the car and one remained in the front seat. One man approached her window and the other stood by the passenger side.

The man near her window leaned down and said, “I really need to talk to you,” the woman said. She refused to roll down her window. Suddenly, the man pulled on her door handle.

The door was locked. “That's when I got really scared,” she said. “I thought, ‘I just need to get out of here.’ ”

She drove around the sedan and down Otter Point Road toward her home, but the men followed her, tailgating and flashing their high beams. After another vehicle passed, the men turned onto Pascoe Road.

The woman went home and told her husband what happened, then reported the incident to Sooke RCMP.

She described one man as stocky, about five-foot-10 with short, black hair and no facial hair. He was wearing an orange polo shirt.

The other man had a thin build with a full, well-kept beard, and medium-length dark hair slicked back. He was wearing a blue polo shirt. Both were about 30 years old.

Sooke RCMP Staff Sgt. Jeff McArthur said investigators are looking at possible links to an incident that took place Sunday about 4:30 p.m.

In that case, four men in a blue or grey car pulled alongside a woman walking in the 7300 block of West Coast Road and asked if she wanted a ride. One briefly held her arm, but when she said no, the car took off.

She described the car as a Ford Focus with a spoiler on the back. She said all four men appeared to be about 30 years old.

“We’re very concerned,” McArthur said, adding investigators would like to locate and speak with the men involved.

“We want to know who they are and what their intentions are here. We’re aggressively investigating this.”

McArthur said anyone with information should contact Sooke RCMP at 250-642-5241 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
