A multi-faith conference in Victoria next Sunday will address issues of radicalization and unrest from six spiritual perspectives.

A multi-faith conference in Victoria next Sunday will address issues of radicalization and unrest from six spiritual perspectives.

“We feel a lack of belief and understanding is causing a social crisis, increasing crime and leading to things like what happened in Ottawa,” said organizer Rizwan Peerzada, referring to the October shooting on Parliament Hill.

“A topic like this is much needed to be discussed as more countries become war zones,” he said.

The event, called Stop the Social Crisis, is hosted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Abbotsford and features speakers from the Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, Hindu and Sikh faiths.

It takes place at the University of Victoria’s David Lam auditorium on Jan. 11, from 3 to 4 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
