Vancouver Island and Greater Victoria could get another dump of snow tonight.

Environment Canada said rain is expected to change to snow overnight, especially over higher terrain such as the Malahat and in inland areas.

East Vancouver Island is expected to receive heavy snow — up to 15 centimetres — with up to 5 cm in Greater Victoria and the Southern Gulf Islands.

The snow is forecast to taper off Sunday morning as the system moves to the south.

Areas roughly south of Qualicum Beach and away from the coast could see additional snowfall amounts of 5 cm or more before the snow ends about noon.

Environment Canada warned drivers to be prepared to adjust to changing road conditions.

Another weather system is set to arrive Tuesday, with the potential for more snow. Milder air — and with it, rain — is expected to return Wednesday.
