Sierra Acton to represent Shawnigan on CVRD board

Sierra Acton has won the byelection to fill the empty seat on the Cowichan Valley Regional District board. The term will run into fall 2018 when the next set of province-wide municipal elections will take place.

Sierra Acton has won the byelection to fill the empty seat on the Cowichan Valley Regional District board.

The term will run into fall 2018 when the next set of province-wide municipal elections will take place.

Acton is replacing Sonia Furstenau, who was elected as a MLA for Cowichan Valley with the Green Party. Both Furstenau and Acton, an artist, were active in the Shawnigan Lake Residents Association.

In the Saturday election, Acton won with 427 votes, followed by Bill Savage with 110, and Larry Jorginson with 69.

Acton is representing Electoral Area B - Shawnigan Lake on the regional district board.
