Senior driver plunges down Mill Bay embankment

An elderly woman survived a 30-metre plummet Friday after her vehicle veered off Mill Bay Road and down an embankment.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened about 8:50 a.m., said Chief Ron Beck of the Mill Bay Fire Department.

The 84-year-old driver was conscious when emergency crews took her to hospital by ambulance, Beck said.

The crash is being investigated by Shawnigan Lake RCMP.
