North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are issuing a plea for information on Desmond Peter, who has been missing for 10 years.

Peter was last seen by his family on March 9, 2007, when he was 14. He would now be 24.

Before he disappeared he was seen at the old Malaspina College facility in Duncan, located on Cowichan Way near the Trans-Canada Highway. Possible sightings after that on Central Vancouver Island could not be substantiated.

An extensive search was conducted by police and Cowichan Valley Search and Rescue. The investigation into his disappearance remains open, police said.

Peter’s family and friends, police, Cowichan Tribes and the Canadian Missing Children’s Society are all involved in trying to find any information that could help locate him.

Peter, who is First Nations, was five-foot-six when he went missing, with brown eyes, dark brown hair and some facial stubble. He was known to wear a dark hoodie pulled up to conceal his face.

He also went by the names Desi, Desmond Louie and Casey Louie.
