Key dates in the potential sale of Woodwynn Farms in Central Saanich have been extended by eight weeks.

That means that the sale would take place in mid-July if all conditions are lifted, said Teri DuTemple, chairwoman of the Creating Homefulness Society, which owns the West Saanich property.

The extension was granted at the request of the buyer in order to complete the due diligence, she said Monday.

No information is being released on the possible purchaser.

Employees were laid off at the end of March. One person has been hired to care for the four pigs and seven Dexter cows remaining. DuTemple said a buyer appears to have been found for the sows, all expecting litters, and that the cattle, a small-sized European breed, are still for sale.

After nine years of operation, Woodwynn Farms wound up its efforts to run a therapeutic treatment centre that helped people with addictions and were homeless. The society put it up for sale in order to pay off $5.3 million in debt.
