The historic Rockland mansion that went up for auction this week is still on the market — and listed for $202,000 more.

The price for 906 Pemberton Rd. rose to $2.2 million on Thursday morning, just hours after an auction for the property was cancelled after just one bidder showed up.

The new price is what the owners had originally wanted, said real estate agent Andy Stephenson, of Sotheby’s International Realty Canada.

Another open house is set for Saturday between 2 and 4 p.m.

A potential buyer from Vancouver is coming to Victoria this weekend to look at the Samuel Maclure-designed house, he said.

Others who had viewed the 7,200-square-foot mansion previously have said they want to come through again.

Stephenson tried a novel approach to sell the house, which is part of a strata title property, staging two weeks of open houses prior to the auction.

The listing presented at the auction of $1.998 million.

The owners want a sale with no conditions, and the one interested party has set out conditions, Stephenson said.
