Sooke RCMP have arrested one of the suspects in a Tuesday night drive-by shooting, but suspected gunman Joshua Nickolas Lafleur and one other man remain at large.

Dustin David Brown is charged with two counts of attempted murder using a firearm.

Brown was arrested Wednesday evening. He appeared at a telebail hearing before Judicial Justice Fraser Hodge in Burnaby on Thursday and was remanded in custody until a bail hearing today at Western Communities provincial court.

B.C. RCMP Cpl. Janelle Shoihet said the third suspect has been identified by police but his name is not yet being released.

Police also recovered an abandoned vehicle in Langford on Wednesday that they believe was used in the shooting.

Shoihet said Sooke RCMP were joined by West Shore RCMP and Island District RCMP investigators Thursday in an effort focused on finding Lafleur.

Police said the 25-year-old Lafleur, known to live in both the Sooke and Langford areas, is suspected of being one of the men in the car for what police say was a targeted attack. He is described as six feet tall and 190 pounds with brown hair and green eyes, and is considered armed and dangerous, Shoihet said.

Anyone who thinks they have seen him is advised to call 911.

Police have said the shooting occurred after two groups met at Ella Road in Sooke on Tuesday night to continue an altercation.

RCMP were alerted to the shooting by a 911 call about 9:20 p.m. Two men were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds. One remains in hospital in stable condition.
