Power restored in Tofino and Ucluelet

The lights are back on in Tofino and Ucluelet after about 4,000 households lost power this morning. Power was knocked out for residents of Vancouver Island’s two west coast communities just after 6 a.m.

Power was knocked out in Tofino and Ucluelet just after 6 a.m. this morning because of a transmission circuit failure.

The lights are back on in Tofino and Ucluelet after about 4,000 households lost power this morning.

Power was knocked out for residents of Vancouver Island’s two west coast communities just after 6 a.m. because of a transmission circuit failure, according to B.C. Hydro. B.C. Hydro crews were estimated to be on scene at 7:30 a.m. The power outage affects about 2,000 customers in each community.

Environment Canada says Tofino is expected to see a lot of rain today, at times heavy, with 30 to 40 millimetres expected. Wind is forecast to come from the southeast, reaching 40 to 60 km/h before dying down and then coming from the northwest at 40 km/h, gusting to 60 this afternoon.
