Sooke RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating a distraught and bandaged young man who fled from an ambulance early Thursday in Victoria.

The Sooke man, 19, became agitated and took off out of the back of the ambulance in the 3000 block of Douglas Street, near Burnside Road East, about 3 a.m. The man was being taken to Royal Jubilee Hospital with injuries to his arm.

Victoria police looked for him all day without success. Sooke officers continued the search.

“We’re just looking to check his well being,” said Sooke RCMP Const. Steve Murchie. “We’re still looking.”

Police ask that anyone who sees the man contact Sooke RCMP immediately at 250-642-5241.

The man is described as white, five-foot-10 and about 150 pounds. He was wearing jeans and a tank top, and had bandages covering his lower left arm. He is not considered dangerous.
