Stolen bicycles worth an estimated $50,000 have been recovered from a Saanich warehouse.

Saanich police began investigating the alleged “chop shop,” a business which disassembles stolen goods in order to sell the parts, in October.

On Nov. 7, officers with the department’s property crimes unit and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team raided a property in the 400 block of Dupplin Road, said Saanich police spokesman acting Sgt. Jereme Leslie.

A search of the property located a massive quantity of bicycles, scooters, bike parts and accessories, valued at more than $50,000.

A 49-year-old man and a 51-year-old man, both from Saanich, were arrested without incident. They are scheduled to appear in court in late December.

Police are recommending charges of possession of property obtained by crime.

Leslie said the department is trying to find the owners of the bicycles and parts.
