Vandals slashed more than 22 tires on 16 vehicles in Port Alberni on Friday night, say police who are still looking for suspects.

Three teens were spotted in the area of Burde Street and Bute Street, between 9th and 10th avenues, by one resident, but no information was reported to police at that time.

One of the three was seen crouching behind a vehicle, according to a news release from Cpl. Jen Allan, spokeswoman for Port Alberni RCMP.

“It is unknown what type of implement was used in the incidents, but it is clear that the intent was to damage many vehicles in a short period of time,” she wrote.

Mounties are looking for the public’s help to identify the people responsible. Anyone with information is asked to contact the local detachment at 250-723-2424, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
