Police looking for man who assaulted girl at Bay Centre

Victoria police are asking for help in identifying a man who stalked and sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl at Bay Centre shortly after noon on Sunday. It appears that the man followed two girls who were in Bay Centre, police said.

Victoria police are asking for help in identifying a man who stalked and sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl at Bay Centre shortly after noon on Sunday.

It appears that the man followed two girls who were in Bay Centre, police said. When the girls were alone, the man physically and sexually assaulted one of them.

He then ran away from Bay Centre and police said he was last seen going north on Douglas Street.

The man was seen changing his appearance as he ran away.

He is described as a Caucasian or Aboriginal male, 40 years of age, of average height, with a medium build. He has short facial hair.

During the incident he wore glasses, a camouflage-patterned toque, a grey hat, a dark hoodie, a black winter jacket and jeans.

The girl did not require treatment at hospital for physical injuries, but is being offered support, Victoria police said. “Officers commend her bravery and courage.”
