Update:
Roads around Lochside Trail have been reopened after Saanich police safely apprehended a person in mental health crisis.
However, Lochside Trail between Saanich Road and Quadra Street will remain closed until noon.
Police have not yet said if the person was apprehended under the Mental Health Act or if a crime was committed.

Saanich police have closed a section of the Lochside Trail and Saanich Road to deal with a person in mental distress.
Police were called about 4:45 a.m. to speak with a person “dealing with a mental health crisis,” they said in a media release.
As a result of the incident, police closed a section of the trail between Saanich Road and Quadra Street and the section of Saanich Road between Fairmouth Road and Greenridge Crescent.
Commuters are advised to take alternate routes until the situation is resolved.
The Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team is on scene with a negotiator.
