Several people are in custody after a targeted home invasion in Saanich Wednesday morning that left one man with injuries.

An unknown number of people broke into a suite at a home on Rosehill Road about 11 a.m. while two tenants were inside. One man was assaulted by the intruders, who also stole items from the home. The man was left with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are still interviewing the tenants and it’s unclear how many people broke into the house, said Saanich police spokesman Sgt. Jereme Leslie.

Leslie couldn’t say if the intruders had any weapons or whether the home invasion was targeted.

Saanich police detectives were on scene Wednesday collecting evidence. Police tape surrounded the driveway of the house, which is on a quiet dead-end street just south of Elk Lake. The door frame of the suite appeared to be damaged, as though the door had been pried open.

The suite is to the right of the main home, which has an archway leading to a tidy garden. The female homeowner would not say how many tenants live in the suite and said she did not witness the home invasion.
