Santa and Mrs. Claus must enjoy the view, because they’ll be back for their a 10th straight year at Chateau Victoria’s sky-high Vista 18 restaurant Saturday.

Staff members at the restaurant, located on the hotel’s 18th floor, have made a tradition of hosting a pancake breakfast with the Christmas couple over the past decade.

All proceeds from the family-focused event go to the Times Colonist Christmas Fund.

This year’s breakfast is its usual sellout, which means 355 people will be enjoying pancakes and a visit with the Clauses from 9 a.m. until noon. Guests give a minimum donation of $8 per child and $15 per adult.

About 1,200 pancakes will be flipped and served, with executive chef Garrett Schack leading the way.

The hotel’s Yvonne Kemeny said the Christmas Fund is a worthy cause.

“It’s always good to keep the money local,” she said.

This year’s Christmas Fund is being run in conjunction with the Salvation Army and the Mustard Seed so that help reaches as many people as possible.

The 2013 Christmas Fund brought in $260,000.

Kemeny said she is looking forward to the breakfast, which draws a lot of repeat customers.

“Some of these people I’ve seen every year for 10 years,” she said. “It’s a lot of fun. We all enjoy it.”
