A social-media connection led Nanaimo RCMP to the owner of a safe found in the bushes last January.
Nanaimo RCMP decided to post information about the contents of the safe — greeting cards — on their Facebook page this week.
Owner Maria Mulligan has come forward to claim the safe and cards.
She told police the safe had been stolen Nov. 8 when a shed was broken into. Also taken were $1,000 worth of tools, found by Port Alberni RCMP in February.
Mulligan said she forgot to declare the safe missing because it did not contain much and had no key.
