A car flipped over and ended up on its roof on the Patricia Bay Highway near the McKenzie Avenue exit about 3:16 p.m. on Friday, forcing motorists to detour while the northbound lanes were closed. Northbound traffic resumed shortly after 8 p.m. The male driver was the only person in the vehicle and received non-life-threatening injuries, Saanich police said. A second car was clipped in the crash. The cause is being investigated.
Motorists detoured onto nearby roads such as Saanich Road, McKenzie Avenue and Quadra Street, which caused extensive traffic tie-ups on those streets.
