A Victoria woman with a lengthy record of driving offences has avoided jail time after pleading guilty to two more counts. The Crown had sought a jail term for 49-year-old Suzanne Gurnell, who pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving while prohibited. She was instead given a nine-month conditional-sentence order.

Her prior record includes four impaired-driving convictions and three for driving while disqualified, said defence lawyer Bradley Hickford.

Gurnell was also given a five-year driving prohibition. Hickford said Gurnell’s legal issues began when personal problems developed seven years ago.
