NDP leader Mulcair to tour Island ridings Tuesday

NDP leader Thomas Mulcair will be back on Vancouver Island Tuesday. Mulcair was last in Victoria in December. Tomorrow, he plans to tour the north and central Island.

NDP leader Tom Mulcair is to start his tour in Powell River and wrap it up with a town-hall meeting in Nanaimo.

NDP leader Thomas Mulcair will be back on Vancouver Island Tuesday.

Mulcair was last in Victoria in December. Tomorrow, he plans to tour the north and central Island.

The NDP leader will visit the new federal electoral ridings of North Island-Powell River in the morning and Courtenay-Alberni and Nanaimo-Ladysmith in the afternoon.

Mulcair will make his first stop at the Townsite Brewery, 5824 Ash Ave., in Powell River at 10 a.m.

Mulcair will tour the brewery with the area’s NDP North Island-Powell River candidate Rachel Blaney and B.C. MLA Nicholas Simons, who represents the provincial riding of Powell River-Sunshine Coast.

Mulcair visits Nanaimo later in the day with NDP Nanaimo-Ladysmith candidate Sheila Malcolmson. The pair will visit Arbutus Music, 6324 Metral Drive.

Mulcair’s last scheduled event in Nanaimo is at 6:45 p.m. at the Coast Bastion Hotel, 11 Bastion St., where the NDP leader will host a town hall.

NDP candidates scheduled to attend include Malcolmson, Alistair MacGregor (Cowichan-Malahat-Langford) and Gord Johns (Courtenay-Alberni).
