Two Esquimalt-based naval vessels, HMCS Edmonton and HMCS Yellowknife, returned home Thursday after tours of the Arctic Ocean.

HMCS Edmonton and HMCS Yellowknife, maritime coastal defence vessels with crews of 35 each, left Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt in August, sailing north and around Alaska to reach the Arctic.

The deployments north were part of Operation LIMPID, a routine domestic surveillance operation.
