Nanaimo police are looking for two men who sexually assaulted a woman early Wednesday morning.

A 37-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in Nanaimo early Wednesday morning after accepting an offer to have drinks with two men she met while walking alone.

Nanaimo RCMP spokeswoman Sgt. Sheryl Armstrong said the woman was on 9th Street between 3:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. when two men approached her and asked if she wanted to have drinks.

She agreed and walked with the men to a grassy area between 9th Street and the Nanaimo Parkway. After a short time, the men became aggressive with the woman and sexually assaulted her, police said. The men left the area and the woman, who had non-life-threatening injuries, was able to walk home.

The incident was reported to Nanaimo RCMP, who canvassed nearby residents and searched the grassy area.

The woman described one of the men as white, mid to late 30s, between five foot five and five foot seven, with shoulder-length hair. He was wearing a black, long-sleeve shirt and red shoes.

The second man is described as aboriginal, taller than five foot seven, with a heavier build. He had a tattoo, possibly of a circle, on his right calf and was wearing shorts and a white T-shirt.

Anyone with information should call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at nanaimocrimestoppers.com.
