A 48-year-year old woman was arrested following an attempted armed robbery Saturday at a Nanaimo gas station.

The woman had an unnamed weapon that she used in a struggle with the clerk and his son at Super Save Gas on Wakesiah Avenue about 9:50 p.m., just as 911 was being called, said Nanaimo RCMP Sgt. Sheryl Armstrong. The son and the suspect received minor injuries, but police said it was fortunate that both victims were not seriously hurt.

Armstrong said complying with demands during a robbery is better than taking the law into your own hands.
