Nanaimo RCMP retrieved a stolen bicycle but not the thief after a chase Wednesday. Police were called about 4:20 a.m. by a Hammond Bay Road man who said a man had taken a bike from his carport.
Officers responding to the call spotted a man on a bike. When one of the officers tried to make an arrest, there was an altercation and the man ran into some bushes, dropping the bike in the process.
The man is described as medium height with a medium build. He was wearing a dark tuque, a winter jacket and gloves.
