Nanaimo MLA Leonard Krog has been named NDP caucus chairman.

The Nanaimo lawyer was first elected to the legislative assembly in 1991 and has served as caucus chairman, deputy whip and, most recently, Opposition critic for the attorney general.

The New Democrats made the announcement Wednesday alongside other caucus executive appointments.

Vancouver-Kensington MLA Mable Elmore will serve as deputy government caucus chairwoman, Port Coquitlam MLA Mike Farnworth will be government house leader, Surrey-Guildford MLA Gary Begg will be government whip and Burnaby North MLA Janet Routledge will be deputy government whip.

The announcement came a day after Premier John Horgan and his cabinet were sworn in at Government House.

The cabinet includes five Island ministers.
