A missing 15-year-old Victoria girl was found Tuesday at the “Rainbow Family” gathering on Rainbow Beach between Ucluelet and Tofino.

The teen is believed to have been at the gathering since Aug. 25, when she was last seen on Saltspring Island with friends. Her friends returned from Saltspring without her.

When a missing persons report was filed, RCMP learned the girl had said she was interested in attending the gathering at Rainbow Beach on Kennedy Lake. Victoria RCMP arrived at the beach Tuesday with Const. Jonathan McKinney of Ucluelet RCMP and found the girl.

She was taken to the Ucluelet RCMP detachment to wait for her parents. “She’s totally fine and safe and sound, not hungry — the Rainbow gathering took care of her really well and she was happy,” McKinney said. Police have not released the girl’s name.
