A parolee who went missing from his Victoria halfway house was arrested in Oak Bay this morning without incident, say police.

A Canada-wide warrant was issued for Benjamin Schooner, 23, Thursday after he failed to return to his Victoria halfway house. Schooner was on parole after serving most of a 40-month sentence for multiple robberies and assaulting a police officer.

The offences took place between 2007 and 2009 in Courtenay, Parksville, Nanaimo, Mill Bay and Chilliwack.

Around 4 a.m. Friday, an Oak Bay police officer spotted Schooner on the street. He thought the man looked suspicious, said Sgt. Rob Smith. Schooner admitted to the officer there was a warrant out for his arrest. He was taken into custody by Oak Bay police and is set to appear in court this afternoon.
