A 16-year-old Nanaimo girl is missing, believed to be in the company of a man in his 50s, police say.

Makayla Chang, 16, was last seen in Nanaimo on March 19. Her family and friends said she is usually very active on social media but has not posted anything since March 20. They have exhausted all leads to where she might be, said Nanaimo RCMP.

Investigators are following a tip that Makayla might have travelled to the Lower Mainland with a man in his 50s who goes by the name Steven Bacon. He is described as five-foot-10 and 210 pounds with white hair.

Makayla is five-foot-one and 110 pounds with hazel eyes and hair that has been dyed red. She is believed to have been wearing a grey hoodie and multi-coloured leggings with stars and planets.

Nanaimo RCMP ask anyone who has seen Makayla or has information on her whereabouts to call them at 250-754-2345.
