Missing dog turned in, will be reunited with owner

The small dog went missing from the 900 block of Yates Street, between Vancouver and Quadra streets, on Nov. 24. Police were alerted six days later.

A notice about Copper was issued by police on Wednesday.

A statement from police said the dog was dropped off at a service provider on Friday, then handed over to animal control.

The investigation into who took Copper continues, police said.

Victoria police are investigating a possible dog theft on Yates Street.

Copper, a seven-year-old Chihuahua-terrier cross, went missing from the 900 block of Yates Street, between Vancouver and Quadra streets, between 11 a.m. and noon on Nov. 24.

Police said the owner reported the dog missing six days later.

The dog has a small scar above his left eye and a sore left rear foot.

Anyone with information on Copper’s whereabouts is asked to call Victoria police at 250-995-7654.
